I'm sure everyone is aware by now that today is National Take Your Dog to Work Day. This nationally recognized, secular holiday was conceived by PetSitters International and has been celebrated the Friday following Father's Day since 1999. Office petiquette articles are published early across the internet in hopes of keeping water-cooler caterwauls to a minimum and, on the day of the event, photo contests and pet product giveaways promote every pet product business in the pipeline.
The story goes that PetSitters International conceived of this holiday in order to promote animal adoption. This is a wonderful cause and one that we at LeisureEase support both in business and as adoptive pet parents. However, I believe I just might be onto another reason this market savvy group decreed today a national holiday.
I am fortunate enough to work from my home office every single day. And it is filled with furry loved ones every single day. And this is how my day flows every single day:
- Prioritize days tasks
- Take the dog out
- Read my emails
- Separate a cat fight
- Make some phone calls
- Feed the dog
Well, you see where I am going with this.
I have decided that taking your pets to work for even one day is a sure-fire way to reinforce the value of your pet sitter! Marketing geniuses, right?
And so, I am searching for the perfect day (perhaps the Friday following Mother's Day) to decree National Take Your Pet to the Pet Sitters Day. Does anyone know a pet sitter who will give me a free voucher so that I can celebrate?
